An expense app that reads your receipt photos — made by asking in one request
After a trip the receipts pile up in a pocket: a lunch, a cab, a hotel. Typing each one into a spreadsheet for the expense report takes longer than the trip did — and an expense app wants an account and your receipts on its server.
How it was made
This is the whole request, exactly as it was typed into Bohm. Copy it and you can make the same app.
“An app where I upload a photo of a receipt and the AI reads the shop name, date, amount and category (meals, travel, lodging, other) into an expense list. Show the total for each month, let me export a CSV to hand in at work, and keep the receipt photos so I can look at them later.”
Say what you need.
On the library’s first screen, “What should we make?”, type the app in your own words. That one request is all it takes.

Watch it being written.
The AI writes the app in a minute or two, and you can follow along as it goes. Bohm checks the result before it shows it to you.
Try it, then keep it.
The new app opens beside a panel that says what it does. Nothing is kept until you choose “Save the app”.

How it is used
Add a receipt photo.
Choose a photo. The app sends it to the AI you connected in Bohm and fills in the shop, date, amount and category — the key never sits in the app.
Totals add up by themselves.
Every receipt joins the month’s total. Three receipts from one trip came to 215.65 USD.

The photo stays with the line.
Each expense keeps its receipt photo. “Export CSV” gives the list for the expense report.

It is still there tomorrow.
Close Bohm, disconnect the AI, open the app again — the expenses and photos are all there. They live in the app’s folder on your PC.

Point at what should change.
Choose “Change…”, point at the list and ask for a trip field with a total per trip. The new version arrives as a suggestion; apply it and the receipts stay.
Why make it in Bohm
Your receipts stay on your PC. The photos and the list are kept in the app’s folder, not in a service’s database. Only the photo you add goes to the AI you chose, to be read.
The AI key stays out of the app. The app asks Bohm, and Bohm answers with the key you connected — stored by Windows. Hand the app to someone else and no key goes with it.
It grows with your expense rules. Trips, projects, a column your accounting team wants: point at the part and say it. The data carries over to every new version.
No account, no subscription. It is your app, on your PC. It keeps working when the internet does not — only reading a new photo needs the AI.
Try this app
Download the app as a Bohm package and open it in Bohm — it starts with the example data shown above.
Install Bohm.
Free on Windows 10 and 11, without administrator rights.
Open the .bohm file.
Double-click it, or drop it on Bohm’s library. Before anything is added, Bohm shows what the app is and what it asks to do.
Use it, change it, or start over.
The example data is yours to delete. To make the app your own, point at a part and say what should change.
The package holds this app with the three example receipts from the film (made-up shops). Reading a new photo needs an AI connected in Bohm’s settings — an API key or a model on your PC.
What it uses
Made the same way
