FAQ
Questions people ask.
Short answers about what Bohm does, where your data goes and how it fits on a work PC.
Bohm
What is Bohm?
Bohm is a browser for the apps you make with AI. Drop in an HTML app made in an AI chat and it runs as is, its data stays on your PC, and you can change it by pointing at what should be different. It is also an everyday browser, with a chat that reads the web pages you have open.
How much does it cost?
Bohm is free.
Which computers does it run on?
Windows 10 and Windows 11. It installs into your own user folder, so it does not need administrator rights, and the installer works without an internet connection.
Is there a Mac version?
Not yet. Leave your email on the home page and we will tell you when it is out. Get notified
Apps
What kind of apps can I run in Bohm?
Apps that live in one HTML file — the kind an AI chat makes when you ask for a tool, a tracker or a small dashboard. Bohm runs the file without changing its code and gives it its own tab and its own place for data.
How do I make an app that works well in Bohm?
Paste our short text into the AI chat together with your request. It tells the AI to keep everything in one file, save data the way Bohm keeps safe, and call AI services without putting a key in the file. Making an app for Bohm
Can I make an app without a file?
Yes. Open the web pages that have the information, ask Bohm’s chat about them, and choose “Save as app” under the answer. The app reads the same tables again whenever you choose “Read again”. How it works
How do I change an app?
Choose “Change…”, click the part of the app you mean, and say what should be different. The change arrives as a suggestion you can try in place before you apply it. You can also drop in an updated file as a new version. Either way the data stays.
Can apps send my data to the internet?
No. Bohm blocks an app’s connections to outside servers and shows you what was blocked. Links to the web ask before they open in a new tab.
Your data
Where is my data kept?
In one folder on your PC — the apps, what you entered in them, every version, your settings and your history. iyulab does not run a server that receives them.
What happens if I clear my browser or restart?
Nothing is lost. App data is kept by Bohm in its folder, not in the browser’s cache, so it is there after a restart.
Can I undo a change to an app?
Yes. Every version is kept, and “Previous version” brings back both the code and the data as they were.
How do I back up or move an app?
Copy Bohm’s folder to back everything up, or export one app with its data and versions and import it on another PC.
AI
Do I need an AI subscription or API key?
No. Apps without AI need nothing. For AI you can connect a service with your own key, pick a model file on your PC, or use an AI server on your network.
Where is my API key kept?
In the Windows credential store. When an app calls an AI service, Bohm answers with your key; the app never sees it.
Can I use AI without the internet?
Yes — with a model file on your PC, or an AI server on your own network. Results depend on the model; a stronger one is more reliable.
Does an AI service see the web pages I ask about?
Only the pages you ask about, and only the AI you chose for the chat. Pages at addresses inside your network, and sites you or your IT team list, are never handed to an online AI service.
Can the AI click and submit things on web pages?
Only when you ask it to in the chat. By default it asks you before submitting a form or pressing anything that pays, posts, sends or deletes. You can set it to read only.
Web pages and sign-in
Can an app read a page I have to sign in to?
Yes. You sign in in a web tab as usual, and the app reads the table from that open tab — as you. Your password is never given to the app, to the AI or to us.
How is this different from an app builder?
An app builder runs on a server, so reading a page behind your sign-in needs your password, an API key or an integration. An app in Bohm reads the tab you already have open, works on sites that have no API, and keeps what it reads on your PC. Use cases
Does “Read again” use AI?
No. The AI is used once, to make the app. Reading again follows fixed rules for the same site and columns, and tells you if the page no longer matches.
Privacy and IT
What does Bohm send to iyulab?
Crash and error reports and a daily “started” note while Bohm is being stabilized — with no app names, inputs or file contents. A weekly usage record only if you turn it on. Anything else only when you use “Tell us” and press Send. Privacy policy
Does it work on a network without internet?
Yes. Apps keep running, nothing signs in or checks with a server, and AI can come from a model on the PC or an AI server on the same network.
Can IT manage Bohm?
Yes. Through Windows policy, IT can set which AI servers and models people choose from, list sites that are never sent to an online AI service, and turn off diagnostics, the usage record, “Tell us” and the update check. For IT teams
Does Bohm update itself?
No. Once a day it asks for the number of the newest public release and, if there is a newer one, says so in its settings with a download link. Downloading and installing are up to you — your data stays where it is. IT can turn the check off.
Try it with your own app.
Bohm is free on Windows 10 and 11. It installs without administrator rights and works without an internet connection.
